Birmingham Fashion Week – A whirlwind of excitement comes to Alabama

In February, the city of Birmingham, Alabama became even more alive when models, fashion designers, photographers and fashionistas from all over the United States came into town for Birmingham Fashion Week. This 4 day event spanned the fashion world from organically made designs to the ultimate in bridal gown showings.

Birmingham Fashion Week was founded by Heidi Elnora and Jeana Lee Fleming. Heidi is a Birmingham native and was a designer on season 6 of the show Project Runway.  The event was preceded by a kickoff party held at Gus Mayer at the Summit in Birmingham with guest appearances by Sara Evans and Taylor Hicks. The show featured well known designers such as Southern Proper, Annie Griffin, By Smith, Iota, Prophetik, Christopher Collins, Leona, and What Goes Around Comes Around, as well as emerging designers. Proceeds from BFW go to Alabama Forever and Camp Smile-A-Mile.
